Stabilization & speeding-up video

Hi,

I have some skiing footage I need to stabilize & speed up a little bit.
- I'm using Mercalli V2 (not the one shipped with VP11) for stabilization.
- My footage are AVCHD 1080-50i
- Project properties match source.
- Render is using sonyAVC 1080-50i template.
- Speeding up using either velocity envelop or Ctrl Drag the event.

When I render the result is very jerky and there is a kind of ghosting on the moving object.
If I remove the velocity envelop the result is perfect.
I tried to apply the mercalli plugin as event Fx & media Fx, but the result is the same in both cases.
Anybody has an idea on how toget a good result?

I'd render to a new track (mxf or DNxHD) and then speed up the newly rendered video event.

Thanks Jerry. very fast reply!
I will try even though it will be a tough and long job as all the editing is already done.

I just spent most of the evening doing Mercalli V2 (purchased plugin, same as you) stabilization. From that experience, I have two suggestions.

1. Change the pre/post toggle for the Mercalli fX. On my older version of Vegas I had to add another fX in order to make this show up (because Mercalli is not keyframeable). Doing this means that the stabilization will be done before other things are done. In my case, I was doing a lot of pan/crop, and the pan/crop kept being done before the stabilization which meant that all the border issues still happened even when I zoomed into the image.

2. Try setting the resamble method for the event to "disable." The ghosting you are talking about when doing speed changes can often be caused by the way Vegas blends fields and frames to achieve the speed change. If disabling resample cures the ghosting problem, then you'll have to consider some other method for speed change.

Thanks John for your info
-I put the mercalli FX before the pan/crop: the result is the same.
-I disable resample: no ghosting but not smooth image.
I think I have to find out another method method for speed change.
