Stabilizing footage question

I'm working with Vegas Pro 15 on a project with a lot of P2 DVCPRO-HD footage. One clips needs to be stabilized and I got it to work using the Media FX > Stabilizing tool. When you apply this to the clip on the timeline, it takes a little time to stabilize the clip, like it's rendering. The original P2 clip from the P2 cards that is stored on my external harddrive for the editing remains unchanged. Where does Vegas store the stabilized footage, is that a new clip/file that is stored somewhere else on my computer? Or does it keep a list of changes within the Vegas-project file that's being used to change the way the original (unstabilized) P2 clip is beining projected stabilized in the timeline, the preview-window and the final rendering of the whole project?

To stabilize a media correctly in vegas you have to create a subclip first by right-clicking on the event nalinha of time and choosing the option to create subclip.

By doing this vegas creates the subclip and leaves it on the timeline as a take along with the original media. After that you apply the stabilization effect as FX media.

Doing so will vegas will stabilize the created subclip and leave the original media intact.

Thanks for the swift reply, I read something about subclips, never used them before. My question is still the same: where does Vegas store the stabilized clip (or subclip)? Is this a rendered new videofile somewhere on my computer, or do they only exist as a list of changes regarding the unchanged original sourcefootage within the Vegas project-file? Background of my question: I want to be sure to make proper back-up's of this project, I don't want to miss ouy any clips that are stored elsewhere that I do not know of.
(It's an opera/music-poetry film project that has been under development for 2 years and almost finished, great to work on and I do not want to take any risks.)

The created subclip is not a new file and is not stored anywhere. It's just a copy of the original file on the timeline. Vegas analyzes that copy and applies the effect on it. Only that.
