I have a slotA Athlon running at 750MHz with
PC133 256Mbytes of ram. It has a ATI All-In-
Wonder 128 - PCI. When I render a
multiple-segmented AVI (all file segments
are on the timeline add up to ~60 mins long
640x480x16) with PicVideo Mjpeg compression (for
both input and output), VF2 eventually causes a
stack fault in the kernal dll. If I do each segment
independently then it is ok (also shutdown
and start VF for each segment). The video
only has pieces cut out and cropping (no resizing).
This happens in the following configurations (yes,
I've spent a lot of time reinstalling my OS -
every install was on a clean partition) :
Win98SE, DirectX8a & VideoCapture Update For
DirectX8 (from microsoft), latest ATI drivers
(produces fault even on 1 segment render).
Win98SE, DirectX8a & VideoCapture Update For
DirectX8 (from microsoft), old ATI drivers
(produces fault even on 1 segment render).
WinME, DirectX8a & VideoCapture Update for
DirectX8 (from microsoft), latest ATI drivers
(produces fault even on 1 segment render).
Win98SE, DirectX8a & VideoCapture Update For
DirectX8 (from microsoft), NO DRIVERS except
for modem) (multiple-segment render causes fault).
Win98SE, DirectX8a & Digital Video Update for
DirectX8 (from SF CD), latest ATI drivers
(multiple-segment render causes fault)
Win98SE, DirectX8a & Digital Video Update
for DirectX8 (from SF CD), old ATI drivers
(multiple-segment render cause fault)
Win98SE, Direct7a (yes I know this is not
supported - but had to try anyways),
old ATI drivers (multiple-segment render
causes fault)
If anyone has suggestions I'm up for it except for
1) Run Windows 2000 - Mine is mostly a game machine
now. And I haven't had problems with Win98SE.
2) ATI is crap - get new video card. I have a
Voodo5 (no vidoeo capture) but I had bought the
ATI card a while ago. Only wanted to play with
video capture so I plugged the ATI card back it.
Plus, this has happened WITHOUT ANY DRIVERS
INSTALLED but my modem driver.
Thanks
JT
