Hollywood FX PLUS can do this, but as far as I know, HFX only works with Pinnacle products, which means you'll have to use Studio 7 or 8 (to remain in this price range. HFX comes free w/ S8, PLUS and PRO are upgrades for a price.)
Which is too bad because S8 is wildly inferior to VF, IMHO, having used both quite a bit,, now.

Star Wars-type scrolling is also included in the free Windows Movie Maker 2. Under Title Animation, choose Scroll, perspective.

THanks for the tip. It's a very nice utility in MovieMaker2--can change colors & fonts (but not for individual words or letters in a single title). Naturally its output files are .wmv. I downloaded Stoik Video Converter to get back to .avi. There's some loss of apparent quality but it's acceptable for me.

WMM2 can output as DV-AVI.

You are right, WMM2 can output as DV-AVI but you have to save it on video tape. What I would like is to save it on disk so that I can use it as input to VF.

You can save it as a DV AVI file in WMM2 - it's in the drop down list of options as to what file type you want. Imports into VF fine

That's not the way my version of WMM2 works.
If I save it to disk, it's in wmv format. If I want it in avi format I can only save it to the video camera.
Under options/advanced I have only the two choices of video format NTSC or PAL for saving or capturing but no choice of file format.

In WMM2, Finish Movie > Save to my computer > (Choose file name and place), Next > (Click on Show more choices), Select Other Settings and DV-AVI (NTSC) is in the drop-down list.

Thanks for the hint. That's quite a way to get to it.

though it can be done in Vegas using the debugmode plugins...do we need to know more?
