Hi. Okay brace yourself and I know you will have heard it all before? I have upgraded from Nero to Vegas move studio. I have managedto get around the editing and effects and have created some decent projects. I cant for the life of me get them copied to DVD,

During the burn process I get an error message that states

The command failed due to a IOCTL error. Your interface or drive may be configured incorreclty.

Help please

make sure you have the latest drivers for your dvd burner. Another more drastic option you may want to consider is to go into your system device manager and remove the dvd burner. Depending on the computer and the operating system your computer will recognize your dvd burner and try to install it immediately or on reboot. You never mentioned your computer operating system, the type of dvd drive, or the version of VMS - which would be helpful in diagnosing your problem.

If you use the knowledge base and do a key word search you will find your problem suggests an older operating system and a particular drive.

Good luck with it.

Hi and thanks for taking the time to respond. I am working with windows XP, I am using a HP DVD 840e dvd burner and have Vegas movie studio Platinum. I have managed to do everything successfully up to burning. Could it be that the burner is picking up on the original software as supplied with the burner by default? If so how do I change.

Thanks again

This won't address the burning problem in DVD Architect, but it will let you get your projects done ...

Go through the Prepare step in DVDA. You'll then end up with AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders containing the finished project. Then use Nero to burn a Video DVD using those folders.

I am having the same IOCTL error burning an audio CD in vegas pro 8a. I have a plextor PX-716a and have both updated the firmware and let windows reinstall as suggested. I still have the problem. I've thrown away 8 CD-Rs this morning after 5 years of problem free burning.

I installed service packs for MS net framework v2 and v3. I also removed a small USB drive. I'm not sure which of these fixed the problem but it seems to be gone.

and now the problem is back! Any suggestions? I'm tempted to dump V8 and go back to V6.

That's what I do (though I use TMPGEnc DVD author for the burn). I got sick of unreliable burns with DVDA.
