Startup fails on XP

I installed vv4 demo. On startup I get the yellow screen and after that some parts of the main screen then it just dies. No error, nothing.

If I try to start again same happens but faster (memory effect ;) ).

I have:
- AMD1700
- XP home
- Directx9b
- 512ram
- firewire card
- Hauppauge PVR PCI

Any ideas what could be wrong?

Could well be a conflict with the Hauppage card. You might try uninstalling and reinstalling again, or simply try removing the card temporarily.

Hmmm....

Does not give very good impression of the sw if it can not handle Hauppauge cards.
What is so special in them?

Nothing special in the Hauppage cards, it's more that they are screwed cards in that the drivers really play with the registry. Try disabling the card in Control Panel if you don't want to remove it.
Hauppage had to have Ulead build a special version of their software just to work with their card rather than Hauppage join the rest of the world in meeting industry spec. It may not be the Hauppage at all, but it's the very first place I'd look since EVERYONE from Adobe, AVID, to Ulead has problems with them.
It's got little or nothing to do with the Vegas software, it has a lot or everything to do with what the Hauppage does. If you want to work with that card, that's cool too. Not everyone is ready to work with professional video editing applications.
