static during recording

only happens everyother time,seems to record perfectly half the time,its not clicks its more like static and is only present when theres sound being played and is silent when you are.it is in the recording,but doesnt effect the previously recorded tracks, any help would be greatly appreciated.im wondering if i have things set up properly as this has been hapening since i put this whole computer system together.p111 1000,512ram,VV3, windows 98se(drivers?) delta 44.

Be sure to turn anti-virus off, I've seen what you are describing when the anti-virus is left on and it creates static as it checks the new audio file for infection.

virus off did not make a defference,does DMA have to be enabled on the recieving drive,on the apps.drive also? is there anything that needs to be disabled or enabled in 98se when you add your sound card?, should card automatically detect and offset for latency?(option available) what about audio codecs? used unused? , thankyou bobby

Last time I experienced that, I changed the clock info on the soundcard.

Change your clock setting to external while recording then back to internal when playing. Haven't noticed the problem since....
