Stationary cursor

There is a setting that I changed in Vegas5, and I can only remember that when choosing ->options->preferences, I held down a keyboard key (like shift or control), which brought up some additional options that aren't there when just clicking options. Anyway what I am looking for is the option that allows the cursor to remain stationary while the timeline "glides" to the left while playing.

Anyone know what the setting is?

To get in the hidden menu in the preferences go to
Options / Shift-Preferences

That will give you a tab called "Internal" in the preferences menu that isn't normally there. Not sure if what you are looking for is in there though or not :)

I suspect that mode may be more CPU intensive as it may have to do a lot of drawing on the display while playing.

Its a lot cheaper to move the cursor and refresh the track display only periodically.

If you want a real cheap way of doing it for short time periods, but want it to be the normal way most of the time, just hold down the \ key. If you have a relatively fast processor this works quite nicely. As soon as you let up on the \ key it reverts to the cursor moving instead.

Jsnkc,
Thanks it was in the "internal" tab. It is the 36th line down, and is labled "Smooth Scroll Trackview". When set to TRUE, the cursor seeks a center position in the track while the track scrolls to the left.

It is a little bit more CPU intensive, but I always lose the cursor once it goes off to the right.

Maybe you guys have a better way, and I'll try the " \ " thing.
