Even after applying the 6.0b patch, anything comingout of DynaPal SteadyHand does not show on external preview. Vegas 4 & 5 worked just fine.
But...
Apply TV or another) FX. Now it shows on external preview. Apply Reset To None, still shows on external preview. Remove the FX all together or bypass, now it doesn't show.
Wolfie - well spotted! How come you persevered with FXs even though you KNEW - or thought it would not work? That fascinates me! But yes - total weirdness, all round.
Luxo . . IMHO this is NOT a reason to NOT install Vegas6b.
If you have a 2nd pc Screen then SH files DO show up on that. It is only the raw SH files that don't show up on External Monitor. However, ONCE they are further rendered to AVI within Vegas they then show up.
What is really galling is that in Vegas5 AND Vegas4 SH files do show on the external monitor - something HAS happened from V4/5 to the now terrific V6b. Like the bug-corrections made in V6b, this one has "slipped" through. I wish it wasn't so. But it is. Would I go back to V5 for my work now? NO! Do I have to do 'cos of this - well sometimes I guess I'm gonna need too - until SONY gets this fixed.
IMHO - not upgrading/updating to Vegas 6b is truly cutting one's nose to spite one's face - yeah? Wolfie can speak for himself . . . .
This not only occurs with the SH clips I encoutered.
Sometimes I use DVD2AVI to convert my MPEG to DV Avi. This worked in V4 & V5. I needed the old material for a project again in V6 and no output on the external monitor until some effect was applied (any effect, fx, stretch, opacity)...
A smart render from Vegas 6b fixes this even though the smart render is more of a file copy than a render. There must be something in the Steadyhand clip header that is confusing Vegas 6. For now my work-around is to rerender Steadyhand clips in Vegas before using them in a project. Hopefully this will be fixed soon.
"There must be something in the Steadyhand clip header that is confusing Vegas 6. " . . . well . . I'd disagree. As SH clips work to ExtMon in Vegas 4 and 5 then surely it is Vegas 6 that has changed?
And yes, I know I can render within Vegas 6 to get SH to got to ExtMon - but what's the point? And yes you did say it is a workaround. I want to Preview Explorer OR Media Manager clips of my SH work out to ExtMon. Making a Render within V6 so that I can THEN Preview out to ExtMon is "after" the reason for viewing? Nope! I wish my SH clips were Previewing to ExtMon as per V4 and V5 . . . simple!
I also noticed this involves the standalone Main Concept codec in VirtualDub as Steadyhand. When I switched the codec from Main Concept to Cinemacraft it worked OK in V6.0b. My Steadyhand doesn't show the Cinemacraft codec.
