Interesting! Thanks for the info.

Great! Now we can record Direct Stream Digital and Distribute MP3. I guess something has to drive things forward.

This is interesting, we bought a VAIO that came with that oddity on it, the name put me right off but I did notice it included a few Sony Oxford plugins.
This all very wierd/confusing.

"What is this Sony SonicStage Mastering Studio anyway?"

From the Sony site:
"Compile and play your favourite tunes. SonicStage transforms your PC into a digital music jukebox by letting you record from CDs, download secure music files from the Internet, create personal music collections and play your favourite music just the way you want."

The Sony Oxford plugins have been around a long time, before they bought Sonic Foundry. They are supposadly great plugins, but only for PT and PowerCore, or at least I thought so...

And in any case, I think this is an entirely different 'district' in Sony, and not the one that relates to Vegas/ACID/SF/etc... I could be wronge...

If I'm not mistaken, the Sony Oxford dev team, is based in England and the plugins are marketed toward high-end $$$$ pro audio systems like Pro-Tools and PowerCore DSP users and are priced $$$$ accordingly. You can easily drop a $1000.00 on a Sony Oxford Reverb plugin or a measly $500.00, on a Sony Oxford EQ plugin. :-)

Sony ships the Oxford plugins on a large number of their PCs. In the Japanese market I believe it is 100%. Their Japanese models have interesting form factors that are both small yet appropriate for a home entertainment center. The Oxford plug-ins make for really impressive sounds coming out of really small speakers. Really nice engineering and execution on thier part.
