Steinberg Spectralizer Playback issues

I've used this plugin recently a few times and find it to severely increase the playback start time when used as a track insert (hit space to start, playback takes over a second or two to begin).
The odd thing is that this occurs even if I have the track muted (and presumably the effect bypassed). I can only remove the pause by removing the plugin from the project completely.
Anyone else see this?

I gave up on that plug a few years back, it was giving me grief in vegas, great plug though!

It would be lovely if Vegas took away the cpu use of a plug when its muted wouldnt it ?

I think they're supposed to be bypassed when muted, as per the General preferences tab:

Keep bypassed FX running:
Select this check box if you want effects to remain open so you can bypass/enable effects with no pause for A/B testing. When the check box is cleared, effects are fully bypassed, conserving processing power.

I'm wondering if the Spectralizer is exhibiting a bug?

"how long has that been there?"

Since v4.0. I haven't read the manual in awhile but the first thing I do when opening a new Vegas version for the first is I go to the preference menu. You'll find all kinds of features under there that can get you out of a fix where things aren't working the way you want. "close audio and midi ports when not the active application" is a good one for those running into ASIO conflict problems when using multiple apps.
