Stereo AC3 and the rear channel

I have a stereo source file that I have encoded with both AC3 5.1 and stereo. When I use the renedered files to create a DVD, the sound come mainly from my rear speakers. Both the 5.1 and stereo seem to work the same way. I have not made any fade adjustments. Story bought DVDs do not have this problem. Any suggestions on what I'm doing wrong?

that's wierd, I'd check to make sure you don't have wires switched, or have it set up wrong in Vegas' window where you set all that. Sounds like MAYBE the front/back stuff switched? haha.

and when you say REAR, do you mean REAR LEFT and REAR RIGHT? or REAR CENTER (if you have a rear center, it'd be 6.1 - which could be the problem).
