Still can't get markers to load.

I'm still unable to get markers to load in DVD Architect, even after trying what has been suggested both on google and on this forum. Currently in Vegas Pro ( 9.0b build 771 64bit ) I render my video for blu-ray, and I check the "save project markers in media file" option. That spits out two files, a "test.avc" and "test.avc.sfl". Then I run DVD Architect (5.0b build 180) and I add that file to the project. No markers appear, so I click the "Load Markers" button and again nothing happens.

Am I missing a step? From what I've read on google and on this forum, what I'm doing should work, but no luck so far.

If test.avc.sfl and test.avc reside in the same folder, then I think the markers should load as chapters, however I have no experience with BluRay.

Is this a possible bug?

That's what I'd like to do as well Pete. Do everything I need to do in Blu-ray first, then apply the markers to the identical length DVD project.

Did you figure it out?
Pete Siamidis wrote on 10/17/2009, 11:32 AM
Nope, never figured it out. Both files are in the same directory, so it seems like it should work, but it doesn't. For now I added in all the chapters manually to my current project. That definitely was a pain, but at least it lets me keep working.

Although I just hit the next bug. I finished my blu-ray and tried to render it to an iso image on the hard disk, to keep a master copy around. It starts the render, churns along quick, then gets stuck at 48%. It sits there for many hours (on a core i7 machine) then eventually errors out with some kind of a buffer overrun issue. I googled that issue and checked this forum as well, and looks like that one is a known bug with no eta on a solution. So I'm dead in the water at the moment :(

That sucks. I feel for ya.

I think DVDA is a decent program for the price, but I think at some point I might move on to Encore.

I hit this bug as well. Very weird. Hope we will get a fix in some update soon.
For now, I resolved it in the following way (hate to re-create all my markers by hand.
I have a need for both DVD and Blu-Ray versions. So, I have rendered both .MPG and .AVC in Vegas. The MPG has perfect markers. So, I start of with the DVD version, complete it and save it as XYZ-DVD.DAR. I then re-save it as XYZ-Blu-Ray.DAR and start the process of changes: change properties, ADD AVC file to the timline (separate new video track). Save Markers. Remove old video track. Load Markers. Voilá. Done.

Instead of adding another track, would 'replace' video work? (after saving markers) I also frequently need BR & DVD copies of the same project. I find that DVDA throws up a few odd text changes when starting with DVD, then changing the properties to BR.

Yes, that works to, but (in my experience) if you first add as second video track and put the AVC up there as well. Simply remove that second track after you've done the replace on the first track. But... replace the video using the properties panel, track media.
I have indeed noticed some text weirdness when starting off with the DVD format and then changing to Blu-Ray. So, for my next project (next week) I will start out with a Blu-Ray project, but initially load the MPEG file, and then do the add track, replace, remove track routine.
