hi there...is there anyway using VV3 to capture a still from an avi clip...here's the effect i want...i am running a clip with a person in it...then the clip freezes and the background fades while the person stays (cut-out from the clip) the only way i can think to do it is to cap a screen shot and cut out using an image editing proggy then transition the image on the clip....any thoughts....thanks

Your proposed method sounds quite correct. You can easily grab a frame and store it to a .jpg or .png file. Right-mouse-button click on the preview window and select "Display at project size". Don't worry if the image is now too big for the window and you only see part of it; this is fine. Now click on the little floppy disk icon above the right corner of the preview. This will prompt you for a name and save the frame. You can now open this newly saved file in any photo editing software and manipulate as you wish. Save the edited version in a new file, place both of these image files on the timeline and have the original fade into the changed one.
