Still Image Auto crossfade

In the editing preferences there is a default duration you can adjust for still image durations. What I would like to do is add a bunch of still images at a default duration and then also have them auto crossfade. Is there a quick way to do this in the preference setup, or do I have to drag each individual still photo into each other to do a crossfade?

TIA,
Red

Options/Preferences/Editing:
set 'New still image length'
check 'Automatically overlap multiple selected media...'
'Cut-to-overlap conversion' sets the cross-fade length.
Select your still images and drag them to the timeline as a group.

I use 8 seconds for the still length and 2 seconds for the crossfade. The net is about 5 seconds of viewing time for each picture. Don't forget to right click the pictures and check the match output aspect bliock. Then use pan/crop to give each still motion. There are free scripts to do this on the Sundance Media Group site here: http://www.sundancemediagroup.com/help/kb/kb_scripts.asp
