Still Image drops out on Print to Tape

I've got a video clip followed by a still image (cross dissolve between them). While the sequence plays perfectly fine on the computer, and even on the external monitor over firewire, when I Print to Tape, there is a dropout in the video right where the still image appears (which occurs even if there is no transition between the two clips).

The still is created by using a velocity envelope on a 1 frame clip and dropping its value to zero, then looping the clip.

I can find no reason why this happens. I have already tried printing the sequence to tape 3 times. The first time, right when the still appeared (without transition), a message popped-up on my DV cameras LCD (Sony TRV30) saying something like "Copy Prohibited" wherein the camera stopped recording. After I added a transition between the video and still, I received no message, recording continued through to the end of the sequence, and I thought all was well. Upon reviewing the tape, I found a dropout where the transition occured, and then continued playing the remaining duration of still on through till the end of the sequence.

Any info or assistance would be greatly appreciated!

I don't think looping zero will amount to anything. When you've zeroed the event, pull it out (click-drag its edge) to its desired length, then render.

Yeah, sorry, that's what I meant. I increased the duration of the still by zeroing the velocity env. and dragging the right edge of the clip to the desired length. My problem is not how to create a still, as I have done that without problem. My problem is that it won't correctly print to tape for some reason.

Try putting the still on top of video frames instead of in between.

Since it causes problems that way, I'd try making the frame into a still .png and using that - it may behave differently.
