There is a way to change the default, but it's not for the faint of heart. I'll give you another method for changing them all afterwards, and if that doesn't do it for you we'll talk about the other.

After you've placed all your stills on the timeline, select them all and Group them together. Then use the Ctrl-drag method at the end of the last still to stretch them out to the right (longer) or squish them back to the left (shorter). This will change the lengths of all of them proportionately all at once. Warning ... it will also lengthen/shorten the duration of any crossfades/transitions you have.

Oh thanks! That works... I'd still be intersted in the other method though. It would just make things much easier.

Thanks again.

*sigh* might as well, i've gotten famous for it ;)

This requires mucking around with the Internal Preferences tab, so heed the following standard warning:

Changing settings in Internal Preferences can really mess up your installation. Do so at your own risk! Sonic Foundry will not save your butt if you change something here. To recover the original settings, exit VideoFactory, then hold down the Ctrl and Shift keys while starting it again. This will reset ALL preferences to their default values.

Now then ... Go to Options, then hold down the Shift key while clicking Preferences. You'll see a nifty Internal tab. Click on this. DON'T MESS WITH ANYTHING. In the blank labeled "Show only prefs containing:" type in "still". You will now see a preference titled nfDefVideoStillLength. The default value is 50,000,000 ten-millionths of a second. You may change this value to whatever. Just multiply the length you want in seconds by 10,000,000. Click OK. This is now your new default still length.
