Still labels

I am working on a project that will have 400-500 jpg stills. It's a little like a catalog of items. Each still needs to have a unique label. After working with each still in my photo editor I saved it with a unique file name. I can get the name of the media clip (stills) to show up on the time line, just like any other clip.

Is there a way to have vegas keep those file names that show up on each clip (still) in the final render? That way I wouldn' t have to go in and label each one with text overlay.

Thanks,

Galen

I believe that's an option if you create a Picture Compilation in DVD Architect.

I wrote some scripts, which I never posted, that create regions around each picture, and then use the file name to create a region name. Then, using the export to subtitles script that comes with Vegas, you can export these region names to subtitle names that you can import into DVD Architect.

In short, it is a one-button approach to automatically creating subtitles from the file names of your events.

If you are planning to put your project on DVD, this is a far better approach than actually permanently rendering the name onto the video, for the obvious reason that you can turn it on and off.

If you are interested, I can post the scripts.

Thanks jetdv and john..

I will have to look into DVD Architect. Right now I use DVD Workshop 2 from Ulead. It does not have the features that you are talking about.

john, could you post those srcipts? I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks to both of you.

I just posted the script over in the Script forum:
