Still no "check mark" beside photos used ?

This is about the only request that I had coming from Pinnacle Studio (years ago) and it's still not implemented in VMS 10.

Simple : When working in thumbnail mode (as I like to do), a check mark or blue outline or something to indicate whether or not you have used a photo in the timeline. Please ! (maybe I'm missing a preference, or option or something ?)

Example : My wife and I were on vacation in Portugal and visited Sao Lourencio point. All the photos are very, very similar. When you are looking at a hundred photos that look similar, you lose track. "did I use this one or not ?"

I did email the Sony Product Suggestion Department, but, as usual, they don't seem to listen to us at all.

Excellent suggestion - I second the motion.

A checkmark or some other visual indicator should appear next to each item in the media folder as it is used in a timeline. Similarly, if an object is removed from a timeline the indicator should be removed.

This would also serve as a clue to use the "Clean up media" function.

An even cooler idea would be to have the indicator tell which timeline it is used in. But maybe not - what if an item were used in multiple timelines. Hmmmmm.

Having migrated from the same NLE, I see where you are coming from. Did you know about the Project Media tab? Go to the Project Media tab, click on the lightening icon (deletes LINK to all media NOT in current project timeline). Then you have a list of all media in your timeline? This isn't as visual as having a marker on used items when looking at a folder full of pictures, but is useful by comparison, of if you just want to know what pictures are being used in your current project.

Yes, but, if you are just starting to organize and work on your project you can hardly "delete all media not used in the timeline."
The check-mark is an extremely useful organizational tool. It doesn't have to be a damn checkmark (if Sony is concerned with ripping off Pinnacle) It can be a blue outline or "bullet" or....something.....anything.

I get around this by creating two Bins in Project Media - Media Bins. I call one 'Photos', and the other 'Placed'.
I import all photos into the 'Photos' bin, then when I place each one on the timeline I move it from 'Photos' to 'Placed'. This way it is easy to tell which media I have used and which I have not.
I realise this is a manual process, but it works ok for me.

Paul, nice workaround. Thanks for sharing.

88-I do agree, it would be nice, I just wanted to check that you were aware of the feature.
