is there a way to grab stills in a better resolution that the res that is defaulted in the still grab in the preview area?
also...at what res. do the still sequence grabs take place...
the project i am working on is made of .avi's that are 1280x720
at 23.976 frames...if that comes into play

You have to set the preview resolution to "Best" before doing the capture.

Actually use Best/Full. Best by itself doesn't alter the resolution of the resulting still.

Thank you for that addition. Very important, and I forgot to mention it. Also, if you want to use a script, which temporarily sets everything for the best possible capture, then captures the photo, and finally puts everything back the way it was, there is an oldie-but-a-goodie script at VASST:

Snapshot Script

It has no been updated to work with Vegas 5 and 6, so you'll have to replace the two instances of "SonicFoundry" and change them to "Sony".
