"Stop" and "Menu" button actions

Hi,

I am trying to create my first DVD. I have a single movie with chapter markers. When I run the movie in preview and select a chapter, as long as the video is playing, when I press the "menu" button, it performs as it should and takes me back to the chapter selection menu. If I press the "stop" button first, however, I get a blank screen and the "menu" button no longer takes me back to the previous menu (it doesn't do anything). If I press the "play" button, however, it takes me back to top level menu. Obviously, I have things set up incorrectly. What I'd like to have happen is when I press the "stop" button while playing the video, I'd like for it to stop play and return to the most recent menu. Any assistance provided will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Atwell

You've got it set up correctly and you're getting what you should get. You're also getting what you want, though you may not realize it.

"Stop" stops. That's what it does. Everything ends. Playback is done. You're not watching that DVD anymore. Finis.

"Menu" goes back to the menu. You can continue watching this DVD because you haven't stopped watching it.

If you want to go back to the menu then you do *not* want to stop. If you press the stop button then you don't want to go back to the menu.

I don't think the DVD standard supports that. STOP is STOP, so to speak.

Thanks guys! I wasn't thinking about it correctly. But now that you've explained it, it makes sense and when I made the DVD and tested it, it worked as you described (and as I wanted). Thanks!
