stopping problem

I have been away from the editing for awhile. During that time I had a crash and my tech recovered so that I didn't have to reload any programs, thank goodness. However, when I went back to do some editing on Vegas MS Plat, I ran into a problem while doing a slideshow of about 140 .JPG files (pix) , several Text frames and 6 audio files (songs) as backround. I can't get my computer to run past 4 minutes of a 21 minute project.
I am running an AMD 2600 with Win 2000 Ser Pac 4 and 2 G of RAM.
I have n't been able to run past the 4 minute mark without the picture freezing. The music continues, but I get a "Not Responding" message when I go to Task Manager. Can anyone help?
Thank you

what happens at 4min - is there a different picture/media file? if so, get rid of it, and save as a different project - then try again. Could just be a media that's causing you headache

It's not the same picture (JPG) everytime. I thinlk it's a memory problem. I believe something changed from what is was before the crash. I need someone to walk me through a general "set up for optimum" on this old bird and I think that will solve the problem.

"Das whut I'm tinkin' ", as they say...

If someone out there can give me a check list on where to go to check how much RAM I'm alocating for the work, or something along that line, I think that may do it.
Hey, Thanks for the quick reply, by the way. I don't think I've ever gotten such a fast turn around on a question before. My compliments
