Strange Behavior of Vegas with mp3 file

I have a 212M .mp3 recording which is roughly 2 hours long...however, when I import it into Vegas, is only shows/plays the file length at about 13 minutes. Playing the file directly through windows media player run the actual length. What maybe causing this?

it is most likly a VBR mp3 , which vegas (and other apps) do not parse properly ..

you will need to convert it to a CBR mp3 or (better) a wav file and even then may have to resync it to correct lenth (most often - not required)

you can convert it in goldwave or virtualdub
