I have two DV devices, a Canon Elura Camcorder and a newly obtained JVC DV/SVHS device. I have successfully captured video from both devices in the past. However, now I'm facing two similar but different problems with capture, and I'm comign to a dead end in troubleshooting them.
From the Vegas capture screen, both devices can be controlled perfectly through the software transport controls. On the JVC deck, when I PLAY the video, it plays back perfectly in the preview window. However, when I try to capture, I get lots of noise and dropped frames. This occurs regardless of the tape I have loaded.
On the camcorder, when I select Play, I get no video or audio in the preview window. The Capture function captures no video.
The only significant change to my system was the replacement of the CPU, which overheated due to a failed CPU fan. I replaced it with the exact same CPU model.
I've tried the obvious things, like swapping cables, removing the 1394 hub and connecting directly into the interface card, etc. Hard drives (10K Ultra 160 SCSI) are defragged every night.
These problems have surfaced only since I replaced the CPU, but I can't imagine the CPU causing these problems.
Any ideas?
