strange effect when rendering

I use Ulead DVD MovieFactory to capture and VV3 to edit & render. The captured file is perfect. However, recently I noticed that when viewing the rendered video file, I get a black/blank frame every few minutes. Any ideas on what might be causing this? I have a P4 2.4GHz with 1GB RAM and 4 80GB 7200RPM IDE Drives in a striped RAID array. OS is Win XP Pro.

Sounds like you might have captured as MPEG?

Yes. I capture as MPEG-2 and have been doing so for over a year and a half. As far as I know, nothing has changed in the way I capture or render, except recently I have been getting this black/blank frame every few minutes in the final rendered output file. I tried the Main Concept MPEG plugin and didn't particularly care for it (mostly because I couldn't get all the settings to do what the ligos plugin seemed to do by default), so I went back to the ligos plugin and then this rendering problem started. Any suggestions??
