strange issues with burning a DVD

I am having a really strange problem with DVD Architect. I'm trying to burn an MPEG 2 video file with a separate wave file audio track (the audio part of the original recording). The video is about 45 minutes long. When I burned the disc and played it back, I noticed that the video cuts off suddenly, leaving out at least 5 to 10 minutes of footage. However, it is still the same length as the original recording. They are both 45 minutes long, but one apparently contains less material than the other. Both recordings play back the same. I do not notice any difference in speed or anything like that. Does anyone have any idea of what might be going on here?

I'm having a little trouble understanding the question.

You say: "...the video cuts off suddenly, leaving out at least 5 to 10 minutes of footage." Does this mean that the audio continues to play, with a blank video display? Or does it mean that the entire project stops short of the original 45 minute length.

You say: "... it is still the same length as the original recording. They are both 45 minutes long, but one apparently contains less material than the other. What is still the same length as the original recording? The MPEG-2 video file, the wav file?

You say: "Both recordings play back the same." Both recordings?

Would like to help, but without being able to see the problem you're having, I find it very difficult to understand your description.

One thing that sometimes happens, especially when using the "Replace" function for changing media, is that the new media is longer than the replaced file, and the end pointer is not properly set. Double-click your media file so that it appears in the timeline. If the yellow triangle on the right side of the timeline isn't at the end of the thumbnail strip, your media will not play to the end. See example below:
