Strange video + - icons on DVD playback

Hi folks,

I would appreciate some advice on how to eliminate some odd icons that I see on playback of my DVD in my TV DVD player. I see video icons with + and - beside each icon. This happens when the DVD player is turned on with the DVD already loaded into it. I didn't spec these icons within DVD architect and they might confuse the viewer. They apparently represent each video clip that is embedded in the DVD. I am using different button icons on my menus and they all work fine and the video plays fine. Is there a way to remove these icons or at least put some text where the plus and minus symbols are instead of them displaying? Here is a link to what I am seeing on my TV screen: http://www.realartstudios.com/bug/TV-icons.jpg

Note this only happens if the DVD is left in the player and it is turned on. Doesn't happen when one loads it into the player.

Thanks so much for any advice!

Was this photographed off your TV?

I'm curious because, from your description, it sounds like it's related to the DVD player, not the DVD itself.

Try the DVD in a different DVD player or even using the DVD player software and your computer and see if they show up there. If not, you'll know it's something going on on that particular player.

Yes, sounds like a feature of the player, not of the DVD, to me.

If so, it might be possible to chnage a setting on the player to prevent this.

Alternatively it might be possible to avoid the problem by using a "Jacket Picture" on the DVD. This is a still image (typically the cover of the DVD but it doesn't have to be) that is displayed on the screen when the DVD player is in Stop mode. I'm guessing that your player is currently set to look for a Jacket Picture on the DVD when it is in Stop mode and if it doesn't find one it creates the display you don't like instead.
