stream attributes could not be determined

i haven't had any problems with vegas4 and my dv cameras. now i have a casio exilim digital still camera that takes small films and renders them as avi files but vegas looks at the files and says:

video: stream attributes could not be determined

can anyone help me out here?

You probably need an MJPEG codec. A couple of places you can get one is Morgan Multimedia and MainConcept, there are probably others you can find in a google search. Also try a search in this forum for MJPEG, use the Search link on this page header.

it seems i have a mjpg codec installed. gspot identifies it as 'Motion JPEG including Huffman Tables'. it also indicates that 'avi draw' is installed and capable of handling this media. there is no problem playing the avi file with say windows media player.

do i need some other mjpg codec? am i missing something else?
