stream attributes could not be determined

I have a small camera that records avi files on a SD-card (brand Silvercrest, similar to Aiptek model).
I have ffdshow installed to play and edit these files. This works well in Microsoft Movie Maker, but Vegas only recognises the audio stream. For the video, it says: "stream attributes could not be determined".

I think this is a codec issue, so I installed the latest ffdshow (beta) version, but this does not solve the problem.

Does anybody know how to get this to work?

It's possible that you need an MJPEG codec. Search these forums for "MJPEG" to get lots of recommendations. Another thing you can do is to save the file as a DV .avi file in Windows Movie Maker, then use that new file in Vegas.
