Streaming video Commercial... ideas?

Hi - here's my latest video, created with Vegas 4 ... any ideas on how to improve it?

It's streaming now, at:

http://www.CopywritingUniversity.com

note I originally had it in 4:3 format, but changed my mind to make it widescreen instead, so there's not enough space on top of my head in several of the shots..

other than that, what feedback/tips for improvement would you share with me? The best new video technique I think I use, is the "fast push" into the Stacy clip, right at 3:37, as she says "squeeze it into one bank account" ...

oh, and my "tribute to Ferris" clip at the end, as I take off my jacket and say "hey you still there?" ...

appreciate it!

Ken,

I like it... did you use Ultra for your back drops in some shots?

If so, do you like th program and is it as easy as I hear it is?

Thanks,

Chad

audio - You're distorting in the beginning and when you talk for a bit after she does at the beginning (at least that's how it sounds, maybe it was the compression).

"but wait, there's more - tell 'em ken" (then the pause is too long)

Otherwise very like your stuff - decent work, and look - a few fades to nearly the same scene with a little different zoom or something. (that can be ok for stuff like talking head interviews in a ENG (Electronic News Gathering) style, but in an infomercial it looks lazy (that's how it looks, not what it is necessarily - no offense meant by that at all, just the only word I could think of).

Personally I never use vulgar language in my vids as it just won't help sales to anyone who takes offense at something like that... not hard to say butt in it's place, and it just seems to clash with the personality that your spokeswoman gives off normally.

if it were me I'd cut it (though I have to say that I half laughed when I heard her say it cuz it just didn't seem to fit, so it's not all bad :) )

Looks very good. Plenty of movement that conveys a sense or productive activity. I liked the surprise reprise ending. And the Key-vector work with Ultra is very smooth. You have definietly learned how to harness the possibilities of video.

Suggestions:
1) The pause at about the 3 minute mark could be filled with a short clip and sound effect of someone being landslided with cash falling through the roof. Something needs to give the delay more meaning, or snip it.
2) When the scenes change near the end the ultra gig is up. We now know that your background environment is not real. Up until then we did not know (Unless we were already familiar with the Ultra sets). So take advantage of the moment by adding a rubber stamp effect. Make it look as though a large hand lowers a rubber stamp that leaves paper doll clothes more in keeping with the environment partially misplaced on your body. When the background changes again - thump - new paper doll rubber stamp.
3) The kicker comment as was mentioned might offend and yet it also stands out as foregrounded and unexpected, perhaps change the phrase to "kick butt" or leave it in but bleep it out so that we know what was said but did not hear it. I vote to keep it. Its surprise element is too effective to simply snip. After all, regardless of how I feel about that language, if I am real honest, I do want to add kick butt effectiveness to my cash flow.

Very good editing.

At the very start, there are several composited shots that have a tell-tale black border that can easily be removed with a cookie cutter. Most of the trasitions after ken speaks are late, it hangs too long after his comments.

Ultra. Your keying in Ultra is good. One thing that would improve it is to slightly boost your spill surpression to get rid of the green on his ears. Just be carefull not to turn his hair red in the process (since the spill supressor feature just adds the opposite color to try to compensate)

it also looks as though you shrunk your key a little too much on the spokeswoman (blondes are hard to key), see if you can back that off a little, increase the sharpen key, and use the spill supression (if thats why you shrunk the key).

right re black, will do w/cookie cutter, thx...

also, I did this in 15fps to reduce filesize, but looks like I have "split hands" during fast moves... any ideas re if I should use different interlace settings etc?

thx,

ken

Different interlace settings for progressive PC screens? Needs progressive in this case.

Blondes are easier to key against a bluescreen (vs. green).

Yeah, I guess the video is encoded as interlaced which shows a lot in the moving titles, it would look better encoded as progressive.
