Ok, say you have a project set at 720x480 and one of the video files you use is 320x240. When you go to render at 720x480, your video will still be 320x240 with a big black box around to fill the rest of the frame to get it 720x480. Does that make sense? Try it.

I think I get what you're saying. So if I'm making an anamorphic dvd do i need to check that box? I don't think I would, am I right? Thanks for the reply.

Here is a quick and easy way to test it out. Do a 5 second encode of the footage by checking the box and another by leaving it unchecked. Then burn it to a RW disc and watch the 2 five second clips.

I always use the pan/crop and disable the maintain aspect ratio of my video files to fill the frame.

I don't have a widescreen tv so I wouldn't be able to tell since dvd players automatically letterbox it when it's on a 4:3 tv.

Thanks,

Thanks for the manual. I don't think the box has to be checked for an anamorphic dvd because it states, "check the box to have vegas reformat your video so that it fills the output frame size listed in the decription box." In the description box it says that I have NTSC widescreen selected. Thanks for your help everyone!
