I want to make the last note of a musical phrase hold for a couple of seconds. The singer sings,"I'm getting married in the morning" I need to stretch out or hold on the "ing" note.
You didn't say how long the original "ing" is. The longer you stretch it, the more artifacts you'll hear.
I get better results with Sound Forge than with just stretching the clip in Vegas. Still, it depends on the content and how much collateral damage you're willing to accept. Sometimes it's beautiful. Sometimes it's ugly.
The original is less than a frame long. (old time film cutter here). I have sound forge. How do I hold a note in sound forge? And thanks in advance for the help!
Suggest you don't stretch it -- loop it instead.
*Find a section that is stable from a pitch and dynamic level during the "ng" but before the final cutoff, copy it exacty at zero crossings, and paste back in x number of times. You can also crossfade the edges to smooth it out. Your skill in determining a stable loop section will determine the outcome.
