Striped rectangles on menu page? (Newbie)

I am using DVD Architect Studio 2 . On a typical menu page are two striped (black and white) rectangles that seem to be borders for something. One striped rectangle is inside the other one. I looked in the manual to determine what these rectangles are for, but could not find it. Could you please tell me what function these striped rectangles serve.
Thanks.

They repreesent the action safe and title safe areas of a TV display. Most CRT based TV's overscan the picture, so you can easily lose 10% of the outside border (sometimes more, but generally 10% or less) - that's the action safe area or outer box. If you want to be sure someone sees something, keep it in the action safe area.

Title safe is similar but has more to do with the distortion that can happen at the edges, so if you want your titles to look good, keep then within the inner box.

There should be a switch on the toolbar that lets you turn these on/off if they bther you.
