stuck at burn-dvda

Not sure what I did or didn't do.... In DVDA2 I created an avi file, edited it,added a menu etc but cant burn
1) created a folder on my external hard drive and selected that as the path for the video and audio to go to the "prepared folder" (hope that was right)
2) clicked->file->make dvd, then prepared dvd(it prepared)
3) Nect clicked->burn dvd
Now here is where the problem is......
The next screen says (in the box) "select burn parameters" and it wont let me click next (grayed out)
"device" says none and grayed out also(drop down menu grayed out too)
The only field open is volume name, along with the circles to choose "burn mode" and "erase mode" and when I type something in that field, the next button STILL does not light up
I thought mabye dvda is not recognizing my burner, but did a small test burn in roxio and system was fine... I went through all the burn optinons under "Preferences" everything looked fine
Is this a bug?
Already tried reinstalling dvda2.. didnt help

DVDA probably doesn't recognize your burner. There are so many different burners out there and so many of them that don't conform correctly to the interface spec that it's probably a major effort to try and keep up.

Make sure you have the most recent version of 2.0 installed. Also check to make sure you have the most recent version of the firmware for your burner.

If that doesn't do it a formal problem report to Sony is probably in order - just click on the support button for the options; try to provide as much detail as you can: burner type, firmware level, interface type, type of media, etc.
