Stuck in Expanded Edit mode, can't get out!

Yes, I know how you are supposed to be able to go in and out of expanded edit mode: you click on the edge of an event, hit 5 on the numeric keybad (which my laptop doesn't have) or use the Edit/Select/Exit Expanded Mode option. The trouble is that it isn't working and I'm stuck like this (at least on this project). I have no idea of how this happened or how to fix it. I'm really close to the end of this project so I can sort of just live with it, but I really dislike working this way. Any ideas?

Clicking on the edge of an event switches between two expanded edit views. In the Edit/Select menu, the "exit expanded mode" is greyed out. I don't have a numeric keypad, but the select menu option which prompts the Numeric Keypad 5 shortcut is greyed out so I doubt it would help.

One more thing. If I click the edge of the event it switches between two versions of expanded mode. In one you can see the two frames simultaneously in a paused preview window like you would expect. In the other, you still see the A/B tracks, but the preview window is back to normal.

Another thing: The red edge on the event you normally get in expanded mode is only on the one with the regular two event expanded mode preview window. When you double click on the edge of an event to get into the other view with the regular single image preview window, the red event edge of expanded mode is also gone.

Its like it is in a non-expanded mode that still has the A/B roll track display.

Right click on the track header and you should be able to enter/exit expanded mode.

Ah I see now. I right clicked on the track header and deselected "expand track layers". That fixed it. So I learned something. There are two ways to get an A/B roll display. One is expanded mode. The other is "expand track layers". Thanks Peter.

Type 5 on the Numeric Keyboard to exit expanded mode.
