Students asking for a Velocity Envelope

I’m running courses on video editing using Vegas Studio, as the preferred editing software. I’ve have been thinking of switching to the Platinum version for the course because of all It’s excellent high end tools. However, there seems to be one very important tool missing and that is a “velocity envelope”.

Is there any possibility of Platinum having velocity envelope or a plug-in or anything other than Ctrl-drag on the end of the shot in the near future?

For my own work I have been using Vegas since version 3 and now have version 7. I’m going to stay with V7 for the time being as upgrading to Pro-10 would require me to upgrade my whole system. Something I don’t want to do at the moment.

Any thought on this will be greatly appreciated.

Most likely we'll find out about a Velocity Envelope being included in one of the studio versions on the day it ships, if ever, and not a moment before.

It allows the speed of the video to be sped up or slowed down more elegantly (i.e. with keyframes) than the Ctrl-drag way we do it in VMS.
