Studio 11 3D compositing

Was thinking about upgrading, but need to know how well is 3D supported in this version. Can video from different types of camcorders be imported like side by side, half width side by side, etc. Are there real 3D transitions and 3D text adjustments so the text 'pops off' the screen? What types of outputs are supported? Is if file output only or does DVD Architect now burn 3D disc like AVCHD 3D or Bluray 3D?

Just a home user so I can't spend $600 on the Vegas Pro. So I'm checking out all the 3D editors to see what they offer.

The only output option for 3D (without buying any add-ons) is anaglyphic, also known as red/blue 3D. The program won't output polarized 3D video, and you can't put 3D video on a DVD or BluRay.

Yes, you can take video from two camcorders (shot side by side) and combine them to create a 3D video. Just put the video on separate tracks, one above the other, select them both, right-click and select the option. (Your project properties must, of course, be set up for 3D editing for this to work.)

With VMS HD Platinum 11, I can add 3d stereoscopic effect to simple text, adjust the parallex and make the title text pop with SBS render to AVC. I shoot with the Sony TD10.

I've owned several versions of Vegas Studio, but V11 doesn't have the 3D features I want. Thanks, but looks like there is only one clear choice for home 3D editing at the moment and it isn't Sony Studio 11.

The competitor has complete 3D editing, real 3D transitions and 3D text effects, built-in 3D particle effects plus full 3D Bluray, 3D AVCHD and 3D DVD burning with 3D disc menus. Almost sounds too good to be true for the price, but their demo videos look promising.

Definitely go where your needs are met, g.

Brand loyalty is silly. We each have different needs and priorities. Find a tool that does what you need. That's all that really matters.

ggrussell -- Have you downloaded the demo version of VMS 11 to see what it can do?

I don't have VMS 11, and I don't have any experience with 3D, but the VMS quickstart guide seems to confirm it is more capable than what Steve's answer above would indicate. The quickstart quide says VMS 11 can import and render both half-width side-by-side 3D and full-width side-by-side 3D, as well as line-alternate 3D, in addition to anaglyphic.
