Is this new or an ongoing problem for you? I haven't experienced that.

Fragmented HD? Something running in background? Just upgrade to V7? Other people have reported problems with Cineform avi's in V7.

You can right-click your Windows task bar, select Task Manager to see what other programs are running, as well as your cpu percentage.

Monitor your page file usage. In my experience (see my earlier post on this subject), the page file continues to grow until V7 crashes, usually somewhere between two and a half to five minutes of previewing. Stuttering audio is the first indication that this is happening. It occurs when the operating system finds it necessary to increase the size limit on the page file. As soon as this operation is completed, Vegas resumes playback. The page file continues to grow. The next time the size limit has to be raised, Vegas is interrupted again. This cycle continues until Vegas crashes.

No such problems occur with the same files on the same machine with the same previewing procedure under V6.

Added: CineForm may have corrected this probem. If not, it may be corrected soon. See the thread on HDConnect 3.2 beta.

Further addition: I have tested the codec included in the Connect HD 3.2 beta build 28. Problem no longer exists, at least for me.
