I have a simple project and I cannot get it to NOT stutter on playback. The render files are on a non-system drive (80GB IBM 7200 RPM) but I ALWAYS get stutters when I try to "print to DV tape." Any suggestions??
I managed to download the 29 MB file without losing my connction. (A minor miracle here in Fiji.) But I still have momentary glitches on Print to DV Tape. When I step thru the video frame by frame it looks fine. One of the places that consistently glitches is a stretch unbroken with any effects or transitions. Any suggestions would be welcome.
I have not seen such problems since I bought the very first Truevision Targa 2000 system more than 10 years (and it turned out they had not actually tested it on the "recommended" platform). I am using an WinXP Athlon system (at 1GHz) and even my system drive 7200 RPM. I am about to warm my G4 Mac back up and return to Final Cut Pro. Yes, it crashes from time to time, but I get perfect video out of it.
If there aren't any issues with the source footage in the areas where there are glitches (bad gyro error, tape instability), and you can step through the footage on tape (after layback to tape) and its clean, but when you play the tape there are glitches....look to the tape first for issues. I'm not saying its there...I'm suggesting you look there first. If the timeline plays fine at that same place, but glitches on tape after recording, then there are only two things I can think of that would cause that....1:Something getting in the way of the output...like a virus checker turned on scanning your drive, but that wouldn't be consistant at the same place on the program or timeline or 2: Bad tape at that point. And, bad tape could show good in frame playback but not sync up in normal playback.
