Stuttering Sound

I'm doing capture from my DV camera and the sound is stuttering during capture.
When I review the captured sound it sounds fine.

System: Sony VAIO, 512Mb RAM, 2.4 Ghz CPU

I noticed this morning that I had teh same stuttering sound on a Real audio feed from the internet. Not sure if it is related.

When I play sound from e.g. Musicmatch it sounds fine.

Suggestions ?

Shutdown all non-essential programs when you do a capture including those that monitor your CD to see if you place a disk in it or anti-virus software. You’ll be surprised at how many things are running in the background when you think you’re not using anything.

I once had a problem like this and it turned out to be a utility I installed to help order prints from your digital camera. It turns out, they installed a monitoring program to check every few seconds to see if I inserted a SmartMedia card into the drive. Every time it checked, I dropped a frame. After I uninstalled the program, there were no more frame drops.
