Just select an event, right-click on it, and choose create subclip. It's right under your nose.

No, I mean I have one large event and I want to create portions of it to be subclips. I know in the trimmer I can select a portion of it and create a subclip that way, but I was wondering if it's possible to do the same in the timeline.

If you divide the long clip on the t/l using the "s" split clip to make sections then right click on those selections and create subclip. The only disadvantage is you have to go to the media pool to change the name where as in the trimmer you can do it when you create the subclip.
Kind of a pain I know cuz I never use the "trim reaper" .

Try using the Extract Good Clips tool in Tsunami.

You don't have to split the clip in the timeline to make subclips from part of the event, but you do have to go through the trimmer. It's only one extra step.

1. Select the area in the timeline you want to make the subclip from.

2. Right-click the event and select Open in Trimmer. The clip will appear in the trimmer with the selection the same as in the timeline.

3. In the trimmer, select Create Subclip. The subclip will be just the selected area.

Oh I see, I guess I do have to use the trimmer. Thanks for the help everyone, now I know I have lots of options to do something like this. :)
