After I have filled the form, clicked continue I get
""We noticed that you chose Vegas Pro as the product. You need to select your exact product version number from the drop down menu to continue"" and telling me to buzz off else where.
TO GET TO MY SPECIFIC PRODUCT I HAVE TO DROP DOWN THROUGH 'VEGAS PRO'.
VIDEO-VEGAS PRO- VEGAS PRO 8 ARE ALL RECORDED IN THE FIRST BOX.
Does Sony no longer recognise V Pro 8?

No, support isn't available.
I have Pro 8, what do you need to know?

Thanks for your reply!
Keeps crashing when I render to avi.
Win 8.1, I've upgraded to Win 10 just the same.
No error notice just disappears!

Well, there are thousands of AVI combinations.
Source, project, render properties?

Just 'Video for Windows (*.avi)' I also tried 'Quick Time 7 (*.mov)' with the same result.
These are standard in the Render As... drop down menu.
I've got an i7 on a 64bit machine running Win 8.1, now Win 10
Source is Sony AVCHD inHD project around 7 minutes with 2 video tracks 15 audio tracks

What MV10 is saying is that there is no "just video for windows avi". An avi can contain a multitude of codecs as well as Quick time.

Which template are you using for the AVI? (which codec)

Thanks Donald, but it is just the standard .avi PAL widescreen, Video: 25 fps, 720x576, Lower field first.' that appers in the dropdown menu. Doesn't give codec.

You're not quite getting it.

Download MediaInfo from Sourceforge and tell us WHAT IS INSIDE THOSE FILES.

Then tell us exactly what your Project and Render Properties are.
Then tell us your Quicktime version.
Filling out your system specs and pasting any error message you get would also be extremely helpful.
Uploading an original source file somewhere would be even more helpful.

"AVI crashing in Vegas" is a just a cool story, and nothing else.

Vegas Pro 8 is not officially supported under Windows 7, 8, or 10. I wouldn't "plan" on it running at all on 64-bit OS.
Vegas Pro 8 reached its end-of-life over 5 years ago. Updates or support do not continue once the product is dead!
Vegas Pro 13 is the current version, and I suggest you download the trial and see what you think..

Thanks for your time and bother.
I've installed a trial of pro 13 and get a run time error everytime I try to open it!
I was able to render the audio ok to mp3 (pro 8)so possibly incompatibility with graphic card.
Will upload all details later on. Cheers!
