I am looking to add some subtitles to a film in French and Chinese Mandarin (not Pingying) and was curious how to do that in Vegas 6 and/or DVDA4.

There is no DVDA4 . . DVDA3 yup!

Moving on . . . try doing a search here on the forum . . I came up with these two "ancient" specimens, there maybe more:
