Subtitles double project size

I am working on a project about one hour and ten minutes long that shows 4.0 GB as disc space used in DVD Architect. When I add subtitles, the size of the disc space used goes to 8.0 GB. Is this typical?

I was surprised that it doubled the size of the project.

Did you prepare the project to see what the size actually is?

Yes, 7.37 GB.

Sounds like you have the video on there twice. Subtitles should not make it that much larger.
