btw this is DVD Architect Studio 4.5, not the Pro version.

In the Pro version, adding a Subtitle Track is CTRL + ALT + Q, and then adding a text box is T.

To the best of my knowledge, DVD Architect Studio doesn't do subtitles. You need the Pro version for that.

Hmmm, when I bought VMS9, I clearely remember one of the "features" was that it came with DVDA 4.5 which featured being able to do a subtitles track. But now, I can't verify this for the life of me...

Thank you guys, I am discovering very UNPLEASANT facts.

My old vegas 6 worked fine, Architect worked great, I was able to do subtitles no problem. So I UPGRADED, I chose PLATINUM and in their ADVERTISED AD, Sony clearly SAYS that Architect 4.5 does subtitles. Well, It doesn't, so now I am looking at spending $500 to UPGRADE to Achitect 5, to be able to use a feature I already had that I lost in their upgrade.
Sony is misleading their customers. Why the heck did they remove a feature they already had and lie about it. Needles to mention I am very dissatisfied customer!

Just to clear up some possible confusion, there are two "levels" of Vegas and DVD Architect. There is Studio and Pro. I know for sure that DVD Architect Pro has always done subtitles. I don' t know if DVD Architect Studio ever has.

If you "upgraded" to "Platinum," then what you bought is Vegas Movie Studio and DVD Architect Studio. (There is no "Platinum" Vegas Pro. Also, Sony sells a Vegas Movie Studio Platinum Pro Pack, which is VMS Platinum with some extra content -- but this is not Vegas Pro).

My guess would be that you had Vegas (Pro) 6 and DVD Architect (Pro) 4, which does support subtitles, but then you accidentally bought the Studio products instead of buying a Pro upgrade. (Note that prior to Vegas 8, there was no "Pro" in the name. It was just Vegas, and just DVD Architect.)

That or DVDA Studio does support subtitles, and you're just not doing it right. ;-) (Kidding, but maybe not.) My advice is that you hop over to the Vegas Movie Studio forum and ask about all this. Most of the people here on this forum are using DVDA Pro, so we're not really sure what DVDA Studio can and can't do. I do rather doubt, though, that DVDA Studio once supported subtitles but doesn't anymore. If anything, Sony has been adding more and more features to the Studio packages, not taking them away.

At any rate, it's not going to cost you $500 to get back on track. If you did indeed have (and registered) Vegas 6 (not VMS 6), you can upgrade to Vegas Pro 8 and DVD Architect 5 for $235. And if you contact customer service and tell them you accidentally bought VMS instead of the Pro upgrade, they might cut you a deal.

If you've only had VMS all along, then it's $425 to upgrade to Pro. But then, if you had VMS all along and could do subtitles, I suspect that you still can.

I use DVDA Studio and it definitely does not do subtitles.

Yes, it is a bit misleading - here's a section from the DVDA Studio page today:

Menus, buttons, and subtitles
Create menus for your movies so viewers can jump to their favorite scenes or chapters. Design your own menus and buttons. Freely position text, graphics, and buttons anywhere on the screen. Make titles and captions stand out with effects such blur and shadow.
