Subtitles in PSP AVC / MP4?

No matter how I try, and I've googled extensively and tried just about everything once, I just can't manage to get subtitles (vobsub, srt, ...) in AVC (or any other encoding for that matter on PSP) encoded MP4. My PSP system is 2.60.

I've found no information on the support of subtitles in PSP. My preference would be that the PSP supported the MP4/3GP Streaming Text http://gpac.sourceforge.net/auth_text.php, but I can live with anything that works or even some official and believable information stating it doesn't work.

Maybe there's just a clever use of atomchanger required, maybe some way to use mp4box. PSP Media Manager's AVC video encoding is the best, so I'd prefer to use that for encoding and then mux in the subtitles. (I have tried, but PSP keeps complaining about unsupported data, doesn't recognize the output as a properly encoded AVC.

Technical information or a how to would be much appreciated.
