Subtitles offset in time

Hi!

We're having a strange issue with subtitles in DVD architect pro.
When importing a subtitle files (.sub), we get an offset in time.

In the beginning the subtitles are sync, at the end they are 8 frames out of sync, in the middle they are 4 frames async.

When I verify the timecodes in the subtitle file, they are ok. But in DVD architect pro they don't match to the correct timecode.

Both subtitle file and project are 25fps.

Any idea's?

How long is the program? It sounds like it is a progressive offset so you might be able to do some math and figure out what may be happening.

And just to verify, the original subtitle project and the DVD project are all PAL?

Keep in mind that in the user interface the way DVD Arch works with subtitles as a default - tweaking the location of subtitle 1 will cause an offset in subtitles 2 and 3. This is likely why you get the effect of a progressive longer offset when looking at long and complex timelines.

Hi Dave,

The program is 26 minutes (it's a short). It indeed looks like an exponential offset.

Both video, subtitle project and DVD project are 25fps PAL.

I did a test. With two subtitles, one at 00:00:00 and the other at 26:00:00.

When I imported the PAL subtitle into an NTSC DVDA project, the first subtitle was correct but the second one was 7 frames early relative to Timecode (which is NTSC at this point)

When I imported the PAL subtitle into a PAL DVDA project, they were right on time.

Check to see if the timeline in DVDA is actually showing PAL timecode.

Hi Dave,

Thanks for testing. I will check the timeline and video settings to see if it's an PAL/NTSC offset.

Kind regards!
