Subtitles Truncated

When importing subtitles from a .txt file, random numbers of the subtitles become truncated; no rhyme or reason. When this happens, I have to go in manually and add the part of the subtitle that is missing. Has anyone had this problem? IF SO, is there a solution to it?

When you say truncated - are there words missing, or is the text box too small to accommodate all the text?

I haven't had problems ... yet - how did you create the subtitles - from regions in Vegas or just by typing and saving into a text file?

I can't remember if I've had this problem importing subtitles into DVDA, but I've seen similar things elsewhere. Often it has to do with punctuation or "foreign" characters. Punctuation can often be interpreted as the end of line or end of file, and characters that are stored beyond the original decimal 128 position in the old ASCII character set are not handled properly by simple-minded algorithms.

So, look again at the text and see if the point at which the text truncates has either of these two characteristics.

Also, there may be a length limit. Because fonts are proportionally spaced, this might not show up at the same "X" location on the screen, but it would be at the same character count location.

Haven't had/seen problems (knock wood), but I always use unicode fonts & text -- would that be worth a try? Often use non-std characters like the Eighth Note, which don't show up unless unicode file & unicode font.
