suddenly, instant death when minimizing Vegas?

Lavoll wrote on 11/10/2009, 8:38 AM
I am sitting here with about a season of animated tv shows that I have worked with (sound) all in Vegas.
Yay, I thought, not any pro tools anywhere for this project.
But now suddenly Vegas crashes when I switch to a different windows or minimize the Vegas window. This is when working on "old" projects that have been absolutely fine until now. The only thing I can think of having done to my system lately is updating quicktime.

Some episodes does this, some not.

In three weeks all these have to be done, and I hope I wont regret doing this all in vegas.. sigh. Any ideas what can cause this?

This is the error message i get:

The only thing I can think of having done to my system lately is updating quicktime.

Unless you have the latest version of Vegas (9.0c), you will need to roll back to Quicktime 7.6.2 or earlier. QT 7.6.4 breaks previous versions Vegas and it is well documented in these and in the Apple forums.

i had no idea.. i havent had time to hang out here enough i suppose to catch this "news" :)
which is a good reminder of why i dont update anything in the middle of a project, but apple update asked so nicely, I didnt have the heart to say no :P
But vegas has worked fine now so I got everything done that I was supposed to do today... but now I also know why I suddenly cant render out quicktimes...
if you have the time, can you point me to a thread where they explain how to roll back to a different version of quicktime? I did google, but I just found a ton of "glass breaking tutorials" for vegas :)

i wonder if maybe it was altiverb who tricked me into installing a new quicktime...

This Thread is one of the first. Search the forums, not the web, for more discussions.

i just ordered and installed v9. seems to have fixed everything.. and maybe it is placebo, but v9 feels a little snappier than v8 :)

but the t-racks meter doesnt work.. grr.. that was the only plugin of the t-racks "singles" that worked in version 8, and was quite useful.

anyone have a suggestion for a metering plugin that works and gives a little more detail than the one built into vegas?

everything was fine for a while, but now the problem is showing up in 9.0c as well. minimizing or alt tabbing causes instant vegas death.
