I am trying despertly to get into the audio recording field, mainly I am trying to record a decent demo for my band. I have currently have Vegas Audio 2.0 but I continue to have some problems with the software, or my pc I should say. frequently it seems that my pc skips during recording. I have noticed that my clock in the lower left hand corner of my pc also slows down. The only other problem I have had is twice my machine has rebooted during the middle of recording.
My current computer system is a 400mhz AMD K6-3 with 256 PC-100 RAM (2 sticks 64meg, 1 of 128. I have a 20gig HD, and a 40gig HD, both are 7200rpm, and ATA 66. I keep them Defragged at least once a week. My OS is win98 SE. The only hardware in my pc is, 16meg RIVA TNT AGP Card, my NIC, and Delta 44 PCI 4x4 card. of course floppy, and cdrom. Is this pc sufficent enough to handle what I am doing, and are there any suggested tweaks I should do to my machine to help recording?
The reason I wondering this, because I am contemplating giving up recording with my pc, and trying a DAT machine. Also what is my are advantages of PC recording to Hardware (DAT, etc..)
thanks,
Marrell
